How to Keep Your Car Maintained
2 min read
Keeping your car maintained and functioning smooth can become a daunting task for people who aren’t aware of the technicalities. Most people prefer going to a German car service center for regular maintenance, but if you are someone who would rather keep an eye out on the maintenance task yourself, we have got the basic car maintenance tasks for you.
Check Fluids Regularly:
For your car’s engine to run smooth and to avoid any smoky situations, it is important to keep a check on your car’s fluid levels. Start by checking the engine oil, engine coolant, break oil and transmission fluid. Check their levels regularly and if they are running low, add the fluid immediately to avoid engine failure because of overheating.
Change Oil:
For your car’s engine to have a better life and performance, it is important that oil levels of the engine are sufficient to allow engine parts to run without friction. Ideally the engine oils should be of higher quality and changed every 3000 – 5000 miles to get the best performance out of your car. If you are unsure of whether you will be able to change the oil correctly, consider going to specialized repair shops such as a Volvo service center.
Keep an Eye on Tyre Pressures:
Tyres are one of the most important components of your cars that make sure your engine and breaks work well. Be sure to check air pressures in each of your car’s tyres. Low air pressures in tyres can lead to extensive wear resulting in frequent tyre changes. Higher air pressures can cause your car’s tyres to blow out sometimes causing accidents. To keep your tyres at ideal air pressures, it is best to consult your car’s handbook for references.
Clean Engine Air Filters:
Engine air filters are important for your engine’s life. If your car’s engine air filter is dirty, it can decrease your car’s fuel mileage by 10% and also shorten your car’s engine’s life. Cleaning the air filter is easy, just open it up and blow any dust that may have accumulated. You can also use a blower to clean these air filters.
These may not seem like huge maintenance tasks but if you at least take of these maintenance issues regularly, you can avoid many problems that can occur with your car. Although if you still think that these chores sound tedious, you can always take your car to a repair shop for regular maintenance.
